“My sugar cravings increased greatly when I entered the third trimester – I am sure it is a byproduct of the candy & cookie season, but I am doing my best to mitigate my sugar intake at home.
To curb my sweet tooth and do some good for my pregnant body, I have started incorporating dates into my diet. I ate them during my first pregnancy as well!
One of my favorite ways to eat them is by cutting them in half, filling them with peanut butter, and topping them with melted dark chocolate! I stick them in the fridge on a plate for easy access throughout the day.
Why dates? They are a superfood!
1️⃣ Nutrient Powerhouse: Dates are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals like potassium, folate, and iron, which are crucial for your baby’s development.
2️⃣ Natural Energy Boost: As fatigue sets in, dates provide a natural energy source, helping you stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
3️⃣ Digestive Health: Dates are rich in fiber, promoting smooth digestion and preventing uncomfortable constipation.
4️⃣ Better Labor: Some studies suggest that eating dates in the third trimester may shorten labor duration and reduce the need for induction. 🕒👶”
