The shortage of midwives is leading to a toll of PREVENTABLE deaths.
If our society fully invested in midwifery, by 2035 we could avert roughly 67% of maternal deaths, 64% of newborn deaths, and 65% of stillbirths.
Capable, well-trained midwives have an enormous impact on childbearing women and their families – an impact passed on through generations.
Midwives provide about 90% of the sexual, reproductive, maternal, and newborn care needed YET they account for LESS than 10% of the workforce.
There are countless studies that show midwives lead to a healthier childbirth process, yet the profession is still not largely recognized.
We want to change this.
The Pittsburgh Midwife has opened up the opportunity for a Student Midwife Apprenticeship.
Our Apprentice will receive mentorship, support, encouragement, & many opportunities to learn from hands-on experiences. Your time will be shared between academic study, assisting at our office, learning practical skills, attending appointments, and facilitating births.
Can you see yourself as a Midwife?
đź’—Do you love and understand how a physiological, natural birth takes place?
đź’—Do you believe in fully-informed care where the mothers can consent?
Then we would love to consider you for our team.
We will be hiring for our *new* role as a Student Midwife Apprentice and applications are already being reviewed.
The person accepted into this opportunity will support The Pittsburgh Midwife team & be committed to serving our families through pregnancy, birth & postpartum.
