Thank you Georganna for sharing the story of your son, Tobias!
“The best part was being at home and laboring in my own bed. I loved going to my couch right after I gave birth, showering in my own shower, and sleeping in my own bed that night.
I liked that my daughter was home the whole time and we didn’t have to split up as a family.
She got to meet her brother right away which was very special. It always feels so peaceful and magical. I think the best word to describe it is undisturbed.
I didn’t think it would be so fast. I remember saying “oh my god” because he came so fast and then I said “he looks exactly like Malina” who is my daughter. Then I looked at his body and realized how big and chunky he was.
It was also very intense compared to the birth of my daughter. I just felt like the contractions kept crashing into me. I remember thinking if I could get my head comfortable in the tub I would take a nap because I was so exhausted. But I knew that some women will sleep before they push so I kept thinking I was so close to meeting my baby.
I learned how incredible women are as a whole. But I also learned that I am strong and resilient.
For any woman looking to have a homebirth…know what you want and do it without looking for anyone’s approval. There will always be someone that just doesn’t get it but if you are educated and feel confident in your choices then it isn’t anyone’s business and it isn’t anyone else’s birth. Trust yourself, trust your body, trust your baby.”
