If so – what kind?
Because what your doctor (No judgment on them and all love to them) may have prescribed something to you that’s deemed perfectly safe and with little side effects and no concern in the traditional medical world, but when it comes to the reality of how it’s affecting you, it’s a big deal when it comes to your future health and reproductive system.
For example that non-hormonal copper IUD? Get that thing out as soon as you can, especially if you’re planning to get pregnant within the next year. And when you do, give your body at least a few months or so to heal from having that.
And what about the birth control you may be taking by mouth?
Although many might tell you the risk and concerns are minuscule, the truth could be quite the contrary.
I’m not saying this to try and scare you. I don’t believe in fear-mongering.
I’m saying this because really and truly the best contraception practice is simply understanding the nature of your cycle.
After all, why should you be the one to pop things and insert things when you’re really only fertile about 48-72 hours out of your entire 28-day cycle?
That’s only – and keep in mind I am doing very general math because I’m a midwife, not a mathematician – MAX 24-36 days out of 365.
One of my favorite books I like to share with clients is “Taking Charge of Your Fertility”
And did you know? I’ll be working on a book myself for the coming year. And if you keep reading my content, you’re getting the behind the scenes snippets of what to expect.
