“My birth team was amazing! My midwife Jenn and her assistant along with my doula, Angie Danek, and her assistant, were so supportive and helpful. They listened to me, let me do what I wanted, and tried to make me as comfortable as possible.
They gave me my baby girl immediately after she was born to cuddle!!! I loved that they didn’t take her away but let me hold her for as long as I wanted to!
Through the birth experience, I learned that I carry tension throughout my entire body and have a hard time relaxing and letting go during a difficult time. I double down and retain the tension instead of working with the pain and releasing it.
I am annoyed with how crazy emotional I was during the birth; crying everywhere, almost losing my mind at the overwhelming pressure but simultaneously feeling helpless. But, it was fast and chaotic and completely different from what I had expected based on my first homebirth experience. So now I know how to better prepare myself for the next time. 🙂 It was much more chaotic rather than the peaceful experience I’d imagined thanks to Instagram. LOL!
Once she was born, my husband said, “Look! You did it! What a great job! I could never have done what you just did. I’m so proud of you!” Elroi (22 months) was intrigued. He loved babies before she was born and after he always wanted to hold her and love on her.
When I held her for the first time, my immediate feelings were “I did it! Look! I did it!” I was overwhelmed with gratefulness for the opportunity to successfully birth my baby as an HBAC.”
