“Walking into Jenn’s “office” for the first time was comforting & welcoming. Tucked next to shaded trees and an adorable store, I walked up the steps and into what felt like a friend’s living room.
There were no sterile countertops or posters on the wall screaming at me to use the latest prescription cream. I wasn’t ushered into a waiting room where 10 other women sat looking like they didn’t want to be there.
Jenn welcomed me with open arms, offered me a drink, and pulled out some toys for my toddler which instantly made her a friend in his eyes.
Throughout the appointment, we conversed like mothers should – Intermixing medical history with how I feel in my relationship and what my diet/exercise looks like on a weekly basis.
The best part was climbing onto her heated bed & hearing my baby’s heartbeat for the first time with my son’s hands on my belly. This is his first experience with a sibling and having him there by my side from start to finish is one of the reasons I chose home birth. I want my son to not be afraid of birth – I want him to be able to support his future wife & not shy away from one of life’s greatest miracles.
I left feeling like all my questions were answered and excited for the months ahead. My son left with a smile on his face and an organic popsicle in hand, which made this scrunchy mama’s heart warm.”
